SGShop: Taobao shopping heaven

I’ve heard so much about Taobao and have had friends raving to me about their purchases (good quality and so cheap!). I’ve been soooo tempted to shop on the site, but my mandarin – or the lack thereof – is horrid. Just looking at the site with so many mandarin characters is so daunting and really confuses me. Imagine my delight when I was introduced to SGShop.com. Read this: SGShop is the agent for Taobao, and the website is in ENGLISH!! Hello, the world of affordable everything!
I checked out the site excitedly and this is SGShop’s promise:
1. High quality and low price – ok, this I obviously know already.
2. Speed guarantee: Guarantee shipment within stated period or discount will be given – wow, this is pretty impressive.

3. Free & secure inspection: Free Inspection done upon order arrives at China warehouse – so for those who have ordered stuff from China before, you know that their quality can sometimes really differ and items can get mixed up and all. Pretty chaotic basically…so this service is excellent!

4. Online service: friendly customer care to be at your service – we all know how important it is to have someone to air our grievances to. “I really want that pair of shoes, but they sent it to me in the wrong size. HOW???!!!!”

So far so good. I proceeded to check out the wares on SGShop.

Apparel, shoes, bags and accessories, electronic gadget, beauty, home, sports and outdoors, toys and games, pets supplies, books and magazines, daily products, automobile and motor…WOW, they’ve got everything under one online roof! A quick look-around and they’ve even got wedding gowns. At such affordable prices! A wedding is in the cards for me and looking at these gowns, I can have as many gown changes as I want. How fun!

These gowns are so pretty!
I looked at home furnishing next. I’ve been looking at interior and furniture a lot recently as I’ve got a house coming next year. Whee ~ I can’t wait! I think I really want a marble top dining table for the new home. Guess what? SGShop’s got them too!

You can even pick the type of marbling you want. Amazing or what?! The price range for these tables are between $200 – 600.

Ooh, but these wooden tables are so pretty. Maybe I should get a wooden table instead?
I checked out shipping methods and rates because I’ve already got a whole list of things I want to buy. There’s no charge for the first 500g! To order, I’ll have to add all items to cart on the website, pay, have them consolidate all my items at their warehouse and arrange for delivery to Singapore. Easy peasy!

Here’s a list of the shipping rates. Assuming my dining table is 50kg, I’ll have to pay $200 for shipment by sea. Ooh, and there’s a promotion from Maybank too. I’ll get a $10 rebate with every $50 spent! This promotion ends 30 Nov. Find out more about the promotion here. Looks like I gotta get shopping quick. I’m going to go and check out lights next. I’ve got a few friends who have gotten lights from Taobao and they can’t stop raving. What’s your shopping list from SGShop? 😉

Bright Neon Love

Two years ago on this day, the boy asked me out on a casual date. To even call it a date would be pushing it a little as it was more of a ‘meet-up over coffee to catch up’ thing since we’ve known each other for a little while before that. However you may call it, I’m glad I agreed to that midnight coffee session cos’ what happened after was a whirlwind romance that will soon (fingers & toes crossed) become a happily ever after. We headed to the beach with Toto for a mini celebration and spent a glorious day trying to get Toto to swim – he doesn’t like swimming in the sea all that much. The saltwater seems to bother him and he doesn’t like the water pushing against his ears. It’s hilarious just watching him! Feeling so blessed for the wonderful weather we had, I take it as a sign for more good things to come and good years together! 🙂
Being slightly obsessed with neon these days, I absolutely love this neon lime bucket bag from Tocco Tenero. The 2 slings – the braided handle and long strap is perfect and so handy. So excited too that I had sandals to match! (Yes, little things like that make me really happy.) The bright colours were a perfect match to the bright celebratory mood we were in.

Birthday Boy

This is the third month that I’m blogging for Tocco Tenero. This month, I picked for myself a cream satchel bag with yellow and dark blue woven details on the bag flap. I really like the combination of colours and the details on this bag. Once again, I am very impressed by the attention paid to small details that make Tocco Tenero bags so useable and pretty much, perfect. This small bag came with a removable/adjustable shoulder strap, 4 compartments, one with a zipper and another with a magnetic snap button, an inner zip compartment and an outer compartment with magnetic snap enclosure. That’s a lot of compartments for such a little bag! I love that I can fit all my stuff and organize them nicely in their spaces.
I took the bag out to celebrate the boy and Diana’s birthday with the boy’s gang (whom I’ve fondly grown to love) on Friday. After taking some outfit shots at Haji Lane, we trooped to Golden Mile Tower for chicken rice steamboat at Thien Kee Restaurant. The chicken rice and hainanese pork chops were really good. Although I can’t say the same for the steamboat (the soup base was rather bland and beside the flavorful chicken rice, I couldn’t quite taste anything from the steamboat), the chicken rice, pork chops and reasonable pricing definitely warrants a 2nd visit. We ended the night with drinks and cake at Shangri-La. From the pictures, you can tell that if you hand a girl a knife, she’ll play killer and want to stab you with it!

Behind the Scenes

I’ve been going into the studio countless of times to shoot for Pink Flare and have never really documented what goes behind. Had a bit more time this last shoot and decided to snap around. So, here’s a peek!

Accessories are a definite must. Lots of them. (In the make-up/changing room)

And shoes. I streamlined for this shoot and only brought 4 essentials so I don’t have to lug so many things around.

Here are some of the clothes that we were shooting that day. I always get so excited going through the clothes and can’t wait to wear all of them.

Pleats, owl prints, leopard prints, drapes and folds…I really do love them all.

Mr Photographer hard at work.
We decided to do some jumping shots for the mailer cos’ this top I have on is just so bright and cheery. It’s really difficult to get a good shot with these jumps! Either my top flies up too high, the expression on my face looks too strange, or I’m just captured in a strange position.

Too low…
Weird position…

Yay!!! Finally got it!!

And this was the result from all those jumps. A super bright, happy and cheery mailer!

Here’s one of my favourite shots from the shoot. (I love this dress.)
Do come by www.pink-flare.com if you haven’t already. Lots of pretty pieces await you! 😉
