The Final Post

This is my final post for Tocco Tenero. Like how I always get when an amazing journey comes to an end, I’m feeling a slight tinge of sadness and melancholy… Or maybe it’s just that I can’t bear the thought of not being able to breeze into their store and pick something lovely for myself anymore next month on. 😦 This month, I picked for myself a gorgeous lime coloured leather tote. Obviously still stuck in my neon/bright coloured phase, it was love-at-first-sight when I saw the bag sitting in the display. My head shouted, ‘Mine!!’ and I grabbed onto the bag and didn’t let it go.
I took the bag out to run some errands yesterday and matched it with this sample dress from Pink Flare. I’ve got a couple of designs currently in production and this is one of my favourites. Besides obsessing over bright colours, I’m also loving styles with cut-in shoulders. Although wishing that I’ve got straighter and more ‘model-like’ shoulders, I still think there’s something subtly sexy about shoulder baring styles. Of course, I also think that the colour block design and cut-out detail on the front is super ingenious and pretty. Haha. :p
So anyway, before my head gets too big…I’d better be off and leave you guys with the pictures that The Boy shot.

Bright Neon Love

Two years ago on this day, the boy asked me out on a casual date. To even call it a date would be pushing it a little as it was more of a ‘meet-up over coffee to catch up’ thing since we’ve known each other for a little while before that. However you may call it, I’m glad I agreed to that midnight coffee session cos’ what happened after was a whirlwind romance that will soon (fingers & toes crossed) become a happily ever after. We headed to the beach with Toto for a mini celebration and spent a glorious day trying to get Toto to swim – he doesn’t like swimming in the sea all that much. The saltwater seems to bother him and he doesn’t like the water pushing against his ears. It’s hilarious just watching him! Feeling so blessed for the wonderful weather we had, I take it as a sign for more good things to come and good years together! 🙂
Being slightly obsessed with neon these days, I absolutely love this neon lime bucket bag from Tocco Tenero. The 2 slings – the braided handle and long strap is perfect and so handy. So excited too that I had sandals to match! (Yes, little things like that make me really happy.) The bright colours were a perfect match to the bright celebratory mood we were in.

Seeing Red

I don’t always plan my outfits starting from clothing first. Sometimes, it starts from a pair of shoes that I really want to wear, or a belt, ring, bag or a particular colour that I want to experiment with. Ok, I admit. It usually starts with my newest purchase. 😀 The neon yellow ring and snake skin belt with yellow accents are my most recent purchase and of course, I was dying to wear them. Yellow is not a usual colour that I go for, but I have been gravitating towards that colour a lot recently and I’m starting to play with that colour from small accents first. And what luck too, I picked for myself this red bag from Tocco Tenero recently only to find that yellow and red matches perfectly. Yay!
The boy and I made a pit-stop en route to dinner to shoot these pictures. We abandoned our initial plans to shoot at a particular building when we spotted this red vintage Volkswagen Beetle. Feeling rather lucky once more, I posed around it, keeping my fingers crossed that I won’t look like an ah lian sports car model. :p

Birthday Boy

This is the third month that I’m blogging for Tocco Tenero. This month, I picked for myself a cream satchel bag with yellow and dark blue woven details on the bag flap. I really like the combination of colours and the details on this bag. Once again, I am very impressed by the attention paid to small details that make Tocco Tenero bags so useable and pretty much, perfect. This small bag came with a removable/adjustable shoulder strap, 4 compartments, one with a zipper and another with a magnetic snap button, an inner zip compartment and an outer compartment with magnetic snap enclosure. That’s a lot of compartments for such a little bag! I love that I can fit all my stuff and organize them nicely in their spaces.
I took the bag out to celebrate the boy and Diana’s birthday with the boy’s gang (whom I’ve fondly grown to love) on Friday. After taking some outfit shots at Haji Lane, we trooped to Golden Mile Tower for chicken rice steamboat at Thien Kee Restaurant. The chicken rice and hainanese pork chops were really good. Although I can’t say the same for the steamboat (the soup base was rather bland and beside the flavorful chicken rice, I couldn’t quite taste anything from the steamboat), the chicken rice, pork chops and reasonable pricing definitely warrants a 2nd visit. We ended the night with drinks and cake at Shangri-La. From the pictures, you can tell that if you hand a girl a knife, she’ll play killer and want to stab you with it!

Pastel Dreams Come True

In an earlier blog post (here), I wrote about having pastel dreams and having a major crush on pastel coloured outfits. So, I was most delighted when the pastel coloured shirt dresses I sent to make for my store a couple of months earlier arrived. What perfect timing! Named ‘Sugar Rush’, these shirt dresses come in an array of macaroon hues- powder pink, baby blue and lilac. Not being quite able to decide which is my favourite colour yet (i love them all!), I went for the powder pink first and wore it for a trip to the National Museum with the boy.
I took along my new bag from Tocco Tenero (I love the nude hue of the bag and the texture of the bag flap!) and before entering the museum, the boy whipped out his camera and we started taking some shots. So engrossed we were that guess what, the museum closed before we had a chance to step in! Such a complete ‘duh’ moment, it was hilarious.
For those who participated in the earlier Tocco Tenero bag giveaway, thank you! Big congratulations to the winner, Xue Qi!
What I really like about this bag, besides the design and colour, is the versatility and functionality of it. It can be carried with the short strap on your shoulder kinda like a hobo bag, or as an across-the-body bag with the longer strap. There are these pieces of straps that you can take out or add on depending on the length you want the strap to be. How awesome! I had quite a bit of fun playing around with them. I tried to take pictures of the various lengths and straps:
