TAIPEI WITH FANCL

I can’t believe that it’s been 3 months since I went to Taipei with Fancl. Is it just me, or do you find that time is absolutely flying by like crazy this year? I’ve been meaning to blog about this trip because we went to so many amazing places that I have to share with all of you. So, here goes!

Processed with VSCO with hb1 presetThe main agenda in Taipei was to attend Fancl’s press conference where they revealed their new ambassador, the gorgeous Janine Chang. Her skin is absolutely flawless and glowing. It must be all that preservative-free skincare that she’s using.

I love that Fancl is so adamant about not adding any preservatives to their skincare and range of products even though that this means a much higher cost for their research and development, packaging, etc. I also love a good brand story and if you’re wondering how Fancl came about, the brand was first founded in the 80’s because a lot of people, including the Founder’s wife were suffering from allergies and skin sensitivities from bad ingredients like paraben, sterilizers, petroleum surfactants in skincare products. The founder decided to start the brand for his wife and all other women to eliminate all the negative ingredients in skincare and to come out with a range of skincare products that truly benefit the skin. Everybody now, aww…!

Today, Fancl is all about being ‘Less Is More’ and to give the skin only what it needs to make it beautiful. You can check out their website here for more information about the brand and its products.

Aside from learning all about the brand and its products, the Fancl team also wanted us to experience the ‘Less Is More’ philosophy in everyday life. They took us to amazing places and we got to have food that’s so good (and pretty healthy!). I’d go back to Taipei just for it. It’s time to start taking notes for your next trip to Taipei, guys!

First up, 山海楼 ‘Shan Hai Lou’ – Mountain & Sea House. The food served at this restaurant is completely organic and sourced entirely from local farms. You have to try the pork that’s been baked inside a salt-based meringue.

The next must-go place is RAW Taipei. Started by our very own Chef Andre Chiang and team, the interior of this place is beautiful and the food here is amazing. The plating of each dish also looks like a small work of art and is such a visual treat. I hear that reservations here are almost impossible to get, so book early!

食养山房 ‘Shi Yang Shan Fang’ – located up on a hill about an hour’s drive from Taipei City, this tea house is a bit out of the way, but so worth the trip. A restaurant and tea house with tea tastings available, it’s opened by an architect, which explains its beautiful exterior and interior. If ever you need to go somewhere to recharge, this is the place. Don’t leave without having a meal here too.

Despite being fed with so much good food throughout this trip, a few of us still sneaked out to get a dose of Taipei’s popular 金峰卤肉饭 ‘Jin Feng Lu Rou Fan’. The pork literally melts in your mouth and this bowl is so sinfully good.
