L’Oreal Butterfly Mascara and Gelmatic Pen Liners Review

I recently got my hands on the new L’oreal Butterfly Mascara and Gelmatic Pen Liners (thank you L’oreal!) and played around with them, trying to create different looks for myself. For those who know me personally, you’ll know that I’m pretty much a one trick pony with makeup. I use black liquid eyeliner and draw wing tips for my eyes – that’s about it. I don’t work with colours and eyeshadow much because I find it too tricky and I usually end up looking like a mess if I try and play with too many colours on my eyes.
I was pleasantly surprised when I worked with the Gelmatic Pen Liners. I am no expert with the many colours and was drawing mostly with blind faith, overlapping colours, trying to remember tips I picked up along the way about highlighting the corners of the eyes with whites, darks at the ends, etc. The liners were so easy to use! They glided on so smoothly and I created 4 different looks for myself easily and really quickly too – no messiness involved. I’ll share the looks I created in a bit. First, I’ll start with the review of the Butterfly Mascara.
The Butterfly Mascara has a revolutionary Butterfly Brush  with asymmetrical lash line shape that extends and lifts outer corner lashes to give you a winged-out effect, instantly volumizing lashes at the roots and stretching lashes outward. The unique Cocoon Fibers instantly wrap lashes in a soft, delicate veil to create silky, spectacular lashes that flutter.

Here are my eyes, sans makeup.

The mascara was easy to use and most importantly, did not clump. I put on 2-3 coats. The brush caught the lashes easily, and even worked on the shorter lashes at the end.

Here are the results. I really like how the mascara separated my lashes and made my lashes fan outwards and up. Plus, it lengthened insanely! It almost looks like I’m wearing false lashes. What a dramatic difference when compared with the picture of my eyes without makeup.
My lashes look so long, thick and dark. 🙂
Fluttery lashes! I had so many people compliment on my lashes when I went out with the butterfly mascara and the curl held up really well all day.

Overall Verdict: This is the holy grail mascara. It stays on all day without smudging, holds up curl really well, does not clump, separates and gives volume to my lashes. A must-try!
Here’s moving on to the review of the Gelmatic Pen Liners,
This is L’Oreal’s first gel eyeliner in a pen format.
It’s an automatic crayon twist type pencil with no sharpening and with a precision tip for easy application. These are the 6 different shades available: black, gold, blue, silver, turquoise, brown.
I grouped the colours in cool and warm tones to create different looks.
Warm tones.
Colours I used for the first look.
I lined my top lash line with turquoise and black, and used the silver and blue on my lower lash line. It was so easy to work with the liners! The colours glided on super smoothly and I got the wing tips at the first go. With liquid liners, I sometimes have to re-draw them a couple of times to get them right.
Look how intense the colour pigments are.
Ta-dah! Here’s the first look. I’ll wear these colours and re-create this look for fun parties and nice dinners.

Look 2
For the 2nd look, I worked with the same colours as the first and dramatized the colours and look by thickening the lines.

The blue and turquoise colours are so so pretty.

I used more of the black liner for drama.

I’ll take this 2nd look to parties and drinks!

Look 3

For my 3rd look, I worked with the brown and silver pen liners.
I saw a Michelle Phan makeup tutorial on puffy, Korean ‘aegyo-sal’ eyes and tried to re-create the look by lining my upper eyelid with the brown liner and drawing a thick line on my lower lash with the silver to create the illusion of puffiness.
Here’s how the liner on my upper lid looks.
There! I don’t think I quite perfected the ‘puffy eye’ look no thanks to my less than adequate makeup skills, but I still like the overall look nonetheless! It’s perfect for days when I wanna look sweet and demure. Haha.
Look 4
For the final look, I worked with the brown and gold liners.

I lined my upper lid with brown and gold, and used the gold again on my lower lash with some of the brown at the ends.

I’m going to wear this look for Chinese New Year! The gold and brown matches the reds of CNY perfectly.
Overall Verdict: These pen liners are my newfound love. I wore them for the whole day and they didn’t smudge, I had no liner prints on my lids (my lids can get oily and I tend to get these line imprints when I use pencil liners), and best of all, they’re so easy to use (glides on mess-free) for a makeup noob like me. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that the colours are so very pretty!

Tokyo Bust Express

I spent my Friday evening being completely pampered by Tokyo Bust Express. For those of you who may not know what Tokyo Bust Express is, they are a centre that use natural and safe methods to enhance your breasts. They use massage techniques, creams and machines to target any breast problems that you may have.
Here’s a list of some of the things that they can do for you:

– Enhance the size of your breasts (the therapist told me that you can go up by 1 cup size!).
– Prevent or improve saggy and droopy breasts.
– Improve your bust posture.
– Regain suppleness and firmness after child birth.
– Improve the look of your areola (lightening and preventing/improving small bumps around the area).
– Decrease menopause symptoms with ovary massages. This ovary massage can also boost fertility and reduce menstrual cramps.
What caught my interest the most, was the health benefits that came alongside the beauty enhancements from the treatments. Treatments at Tokyo Bust Express will also help in detoxification, improving blood circulation, preventing breast cysts and decreasing the risk of breast cancer.
Prior to my Friday’s session, I had already gone to the centre for a breast analysis and a treatment session on Tuesday. The consultant, Evonne, told me during my analysis session that I was of quite a good size (Phew! I always thought that I was mini!) and that with some focus on enhancement and lifting, I could achieve even nicer and fuller looking breasts. I could even go up by 1 cup size if I was diligent with my treatments! (Although, she did stress that results may vary with different women.)
She also told me that my breasts had a larger percentage of fats as compared to mammary glands, which meant that if I lost or put on weight, my breasts would follow my weight fluctuation and increase or decrease proportionately. (Boo!!) What they hoped to achieve for me, is to stimulate the mammary glands and increase their sizes so that my breasts will not be affected by my weight fluctuations. You see, mammary glands are what that determines the size of a woman’s breasts.

Above are some of the ingredients used in their creams and the functions of them. A main ingredient, Phytoestrogen is present in all their creams used. Phytoestrogen replaces and stimulates the female hormones.
What impressed me most during my analysis session was the knowledge that the consultant had. She was like a walking ‘breast wikipedia’!
I was given this supplement cream for after treatment care to improve firmness.
Here are the treatment rooms. I had my session at Tokyo Bust Express’s new outlet at City Square Mall. Very nice and cosy!
Check out my treatment room! The lovely people at Tokyo Bust Express had sprinkled rose petals all around. I was pretty much given the royal treatment, and I was so so touched. Thank you!!!
Here’s me, pre-treatment in the cosy little room.
Changed and ready for treatment! They even gave me a stalk of sunflower. Boy, do the people at Tokyo Bust Express really know how to pamper us girls!

First up – a short relaxing massage. It was sooooo good.

Next, a cream was applied and my chest was wrapped up. The therapist increased the level of intensity from the machine in accordance to my level of ‘tolerance’. It actually wasn’t painful at all. All I felt was a vibrating and tingling sensation. I actually fell asleep.

After which, the therapist proceeded to give me a breast massage, to stimulate the mammary glands. The massage also helps in re-shaping and increasing the fullness and firmness of breasts. I peeked at my boobs after 1 side was done and was surprised to find that already the side that was done looked fuller than the other!
Angel, my therapist was explaining the steps of the treatment along the way and patiently responding to the many questions I was asking.
Evonne, Ms ‘Breast Wikipedia’! She’s had 6 years of experience working with the woman’s assets and know so much about them.

With the consultant and therapist. Thanks for such a good overall experience at Tokyo Bust Express! xo
It’s Day 3 after my session today and my womanly assets feel slightly sore and swollen (in a good way), which I translate to a fuller front. I am sold that I may really get to increase a cup size if I remain diligent and consistent with my treatments. The therapist and consultant did stress throughout that as the techniques applied are natural (unlike fillers or invasive techniques), results may vary with different women.
Before I end, here’s a special promotion for my readers!

Truly A Man’s Best Friend

Hero Pitbull Drags Unconscious Owner From Path of Oncoming Train
After consuming too many drinks at her boyfriend’s home, 56-year-old Christine Spain of Shirley, Massachusetts, decided to walk home along the railroad tracks last week. Good thing she brought along her eight-year-old pitbull, Lilly.
At some point, Spain passed out. While her owner lay across the tracks, Lilly heard the distant rumbling of a freight train. According to The Sentinel and Enterprise, the brave dog pulled Spain from the oncoming behemoth’s path. Sadly, Lilly didn’t clear herself from the tracks in time. The valiant dog lost muscle and skin from her front paw. Her pelvis was fractured in multiple places.
“I don’t know if she collapsed or what happened, but she passed out,” said Rob Halpin, spokesman for the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. “The engineer, the only witness, told police he saw a dog frantically pulling at a woman as he drew closer. He did everything he could. He heard a thump and thought he hit both.”
The engineer immediately hit the brakes and hopped off the train. He found Spain unhurt. “The dog’s head was on her chest,” Halpin said. “The woman was totally unharmed.”
Spain, a recovering alcoholic, was arrested at the scene and charged with multiple offenses, including animal cruelty.
Her son, David Lanteigne, is a police officer in Boston. Lanteigne placed Lilly with his mother to serve as her therapy dog.
“This dog is truly a special dog,” he said. “She’s been amazing since day one. My mother has given anything and everything to this dog. For the past three and a half years since she’s had this dog, it’s her entire life. She’s been eating, sleeping and breathing this dog. The dog is everything to her. She brings her on five or six long walks a day. She spends half an hour preparing all of her meals.”
“I truly believe things happen for a reason,” said Lanteigne. “We found Lilly to save her life, and she returned the favor. She almost died here.”
After being rushed to an emergency animal hospital, Lilly underwent two surgeries. “Lilly’s doing a lot better than she was almost a week ago,” he said. “She’s on her road to recovery now. It’ll be quite a long ways before she’s back up to speed.”
Lanteigne said Lilly and Spain will stay with him in Boston once Lilly is released from the animal hospital.
