Domo!

sleepy Domo

I brought Domo to the vet, and my poor boy has quite a few problems of late. He had ear infection again after returning from the groomer’s. There’s something not quite right the groomer is doing and I’m really looking into changing a groomer for him. If anyone knows a groomer who does poodles well, please let me know!

Also, the vet deduced that Domo has very sensitive skin (just like his daddy…). His skin flares up easily and he gets rashes and scratches himself incessantly. Sigh…the vet and I are trying to work something out to find out the root problem. Domo may be allergic to certain kinds of food, or perhaps its the heat, or maybe it is inborn. The vet suggested I stop feeding him freshly cooked beef and vegetables and stop giving my boy snacks. He wants us to put Domo solely on dried pet food. Domo is surely going to be a really really miserable boy. 😦
Also, Domo has a rather gassy and sensitive tummy. He gets bloated and farts really really smelly farts! (again, like his daddy..haha) Domo is basically showing signs of all hereditary poodle breed problems. Really worrying! He has a whole bunch of medicines and pro-biotics for all his problems. It pains me…and I wonder what I’m doing wrong for him sometimes. Or maybe, he just has lots of inborn problems. 😦
I just showered him with this special shampoo that is supposed to calm his skin. It seems to have worked, because Domo was surprisingly calm after his shower…even after I blow-dried him with the hairdryer. Usually, he gets into a crazy frenzy after and tosses around really crazily like he is really irritated. I guess, this mild shampoo is really helping calm his skin.
I’m keeping my fingers and toes really really crossed that all these supplements and medications are going to help him. He is a really strong, healthy boy in every other sense…I just hope his skin, ear and tummy problem goes away completely.
He has brought so much sunshine and smiles to my life. Even my mum, who used to forbid me from keeping dogs love him to bits. You know, I try and come home early or stay home just for him sometimes. Haha…Get well soon Domo!! xxx
Domo was named after the cartoon monster – Domo Kun. Rahhhhhhrrrrrr!!!!***
According to Wikipedia, “Domo-kun is known to pass gasrepeatedly when nervous or upset.” Haha…How apt!!

In Response

Sorry I haven’t been responding to stuff left on my box…been rather out of it off late. I’m going to post my answers here, cos’ they’ll probably be lost in the out-datedness.

To the question of what makeup I use:

For eyes: I use Shiseido Majolica’s mascara for my lower lashes mostly, and stick on whatever false eyelashes I feel like for the day – slightly more natural or drama ones. I used to have to get Majolica’s stuff from Japan or Taiwan. So glad they’re here in Singapore now! I also use white slightly sparkly eyeshadow (from Majolica as well) as eye make-up base, and put on other pastel colours like light pink, or blue etc…depending. Actually, all my eye-stuff are from Majolica. Haha, I’m a huge fan. I also like to line the bottom half of my eyes with white liner and blend some in the inner eyes to brighten and open the eyes. I got my pencil from…haha where else but Majolica.

As for my face, I’ll usually slap on some RMK make-up base, followed by Laneige’s make-up base (the green one). I think the green really brightens the face and makes it fairer. Then, I’ll puff some loose powder on my face. I’m currently using Anna Sui’s…followed by blusher from….erm, Majolica again. 😀

p.s I’m not endorsed or sponsored by Majolica just in case you’re wondering. Ha.

That’s about all to my make-up regime. I’m always on the look-out for stuff to make the skin brighter and fairer. Please let me know if you’ve tried any fab products too!! 🙂

Some stuff in my make-up bag.

To Germaine and potty-training Domo:

Hey, Domo was actually already pee-pan trained when he came to me (thanks to the breeders). But he suddenly lost it one day and kept peeing beside the newspapers I’ve laid out for him.
(I’ve read that puppies can suddenly lose what they’ve learnt. Yeaks!) Anyway, I tried all sort of ways like slapping his butt and scolding him when he pees out of the newspapers and putting him on the newspapers for him to smell and hopefully communicate with him that it’s his toilet.
All that didn’t quite work until I bought a big proper pee pan and laid newspapers in it. He suddenly got it without me even trying. I think Domo just needed proper boundaries. I’m not sure if you’ve got a pee-pan for your poodle as well? And not just newspapers on the ground?
Also, the vet told me that if we make a huge fuss after our doggie pees in the wrong place, they may actually enjoy the attention and keep doing it. Maybe you can try cleaning up with dettol or those sprays you can get from pet shops that covers the doggie pee smell and leave some trace of your doggie’s pee on the newspaper so he/she will follow the smell. I’m not sure if it’ll work, but good luck! You’ll probably find more answers on dog forums too. 🙂
Show me some of your doggie’s photos? Would love to see! Email or facebook??

Domo turned 1!

I’ve been meaning to post this entry. Domo turned 1 year old on 31st October. He’s a Halloween baby! (ok ok, I know I’m like a month late with this entry. haha.) I can’t believe I’ve had this baby for about 10 months already. How time flies… And how he has grown! Well, it’s good to know that I’ve raised him up rather well (at least I think so!) and that he’s very alive, healthy and bouncy. 😀 I was always almost paranoid that I’ll do something wrong and make him really sick or something when he first came to me. I’ve grown really attached to him over this course of time…and now that he has become so much a part of my life, I can’t imagine a day coming home without him doing his little excited “my mummy’s home!!” dance for me. 🙂

So anyway, here are some pictures of my princely Domo!

I can’t believe he was this small!

…and how he grew (at 3 months)

…and Grew!! (at 1 year) We got him a cream cheese topped with cranberries birthday cake from US Doggie Bakery. He loved the cream cheese!

Domo and I with my parents. He couldn’t quite figure what was happening and why we were forcing him to pose for so many pictures – see hiw eye roving? haha.

Domo and his mummy squashing him!

He had a 3 day birthday celebration filled with trips to pet cafes and a trip back to his doggie parent’s home for a party with his other siblings. And all that food he had! Made him a really happy dog.:)

He was extra taken to this female pooch – Wawa. Think he was trying to get himself a girlfriend for his birthday, and an older one too. 😉

mmm….yummy…

Domo back at his doggie parent’s house for a birthday celebration with all his siblings.

This is how they looked when they were pups!
I wonder what’s the life span of a dog’s. It’s scary to think of Domo getting old and fading away. Argh! I’m getting all morbid!! I’d better stop.
Byeeee!
